We participated in the group meeting of “Genomic Modality” held in Sweden

From September 21 to 23, 2023, we participated in the group meeting of “Genomic Modality” Grant-in-Aid for Transformative Research Areas (A), held in Sweden. Okada-sensei and Hada participated in the meeting and gave oral and poster presentations, respectively. The venue for the group meeting was the Karolinska Institutet, which is famous for having the selection committee for the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, and I was impressed by the fashionable Scandinavian design of the building and the many artworks on the premises. One of the major features of the genome modality field is the fusion of theoretical and experimental biology. At this group meeting, the specialists in each field engaged in heated discussions, and I could sense the excitement in the field as a whole. We received many fresh opinions and important hints in our presentations. During our free time, we visited the Nobel Prize Museum, a place that every scientist should visit at least once. We came into contact with the great research of our predecessors and renewed our determination to do research that will be useful to the world.
